Murud Janjira Fort

Rising impregnably out of the Arabian Sea off the coastal town of Murud, Murud Janjira is an awe-inspiring 15th-century marine fortress built by the Siddis. Surrounded entirely by crashing ocean waves, the fort boasts 22 intact stone bastions, massive historic bronze cannons including the famous Kalalbangdi, freshwater reservoirs, and an undefeated record against historical sieges.
